If you’ve ever recorded with us before, you know that our setup is pretty intense. And we won’t lie to you, professional-grade audio and video equipment can get pretty expensive. However! That doesn’t mean that affordable high-quality equipment doesn’t exist. In the wake of audition season, we put together a list of our favorite pieces of gear that won’t break the bank:
Recorder: Zoom H1 Essential Recorder
Whether you're just getting into recording or want a reliable device that doesn’t require hours of learning, the Zoom H1 Essential Handy Recorder is a fantastic choice. It’s simple, affordable, portable, and delivers amazing sound quality that anyone can appreciate. You don’t need to be an audio expert to use it, but you’ll sound like one when you do!

Ring Light: Neewer 18in Light Kit
This light is big and bright enough to make you look great even at a distance, and even comes with two color temperature plate options!
Camera Gear: Tripod with Tilt Head
This has multiple uses! Obviously you can use it to mount your cell phone, but the Zoom H1 Essential can also mount on this for easier recording—just unscrew the phone mount and the bit should screw perfectly into the back of the recorder!
Other Accessories:
Microfiber Cleaning Cloths to remove any dust or smudges from your camera lens
Gaffer’s Tape to help position any rogue cables or equipment
